Just read "Ki Tetze" with my boys ages 11,9 and 6 and it really was amazing that the story spoke to each of them on their level and served as springboard for further discussion and investigation into the parasha. I love the simple tone that appeals to everyone. This is truly a book to be read an enjoyed by the whole family. I'm waiting for the neviim to come out!Product details

Love this book!
I read it to my children every Friday.
The Family Torah is perfect for families of all ages to read through the weekly Torah portions. It is a wonderful read by parents to their children, or for older children to read themselves. The weekly portions are both thorough and concise. The author presents the biblical stories accurately, in a very conversational way - making it appealing to read and discuss as a family (definitely not textbook style as some books on the Torah are). This book is for families who enjoy learning together or for children who want to read and understand the Torah in modern day English.
Sometimes it's hard for kids to really grasp the meat of each weeks Torah Portion. Jennifer has done a fantastic job of getting right to the heart of things with out talking down to the kids! My kids love it and are learning more and more Hebrew to! It is short and sweet and to the point I have had it for a year now and we are on our second time through it! I have 6 kids the 11yr old and 9 yr old sit and listen as well as read it themselves my 6,4 and 3 year old ask so many questions now while we read! It has really helped our Torah Studies and my children's grasp of the subject matter in each portion! Thank you for such a wonderful book!
Perfect for my nine year old. Not too long, not too brief, and plenty engaging for a span of age groups! Opens up great discussions for us!
This is a well thought out way to talk about the parsha with the family. It feels comfortable in a traditional home but translates itself well for any background. I particularly like that this book presents both the literal reading (pshat) as well as what the midrash says.
I completely agree with the review by Shifra. It is a wonderful book to teach the weekly Torah portions! Great for family discussion or using in homeschool. We have tried several different weekly Torah lessons and this one rates at the top of our list. I definitely recommend purchasing The Family Torah!
Given how little is out there in this category, it's good. We read the parses together and discuss. It's easy to read and gives the basics of the parses!! It is an orthodox oriented item, so I can't hold that against it, but do wish there was a more progressive version for weekly Shabbat discussion!
